Chemeketa celebrates Earth Day April 22

From growing your own food to upcycling materials, self-reliance is the theme of Chemeketa’s Earth Day event.
Held April 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bldg. 6 auditorium, visitors will find informational booths, panelists, a raffle, and live music.
The booths will include presentations and information on food preservation, bicycle repair, and student clubs, as well as face-painting and a spot for photos.
Composting and aquaponics demonstrations will be offered in the greenhouses, with plants available to buy. Snacks also will be offered.
The event is free, but $2 donations or canned food for the Chemeketa Pantry are recommended for the free lunch of vegetarian burritos.
The schedule is as follows:
10:30 a.m.: Booths, crafts and exhibits open
11 a,m.: Local Sustainability Heroes Panel
Noon: Lunch
12:30 p.m.: Live Music Starts
3 p.m.: Close
