The Chemeketa community gathered on Jan. 25 for “Hunger at Chemeketa.” This event commemorated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and speaker Ron Jones delivered his “Dialogues on Diversity” workshop. Jones spoke about the trajectory of MLK’s career and focused on issues in the community such as poverty and hunger. When asked why students should be interested in an event like this, instructor Taylor Marrow, who also served as moderator for the Q and A portion of the event, said, “These are issues relevant to [students’] futures. Issues that MLK was talking about are still important to this era.”
