International program offers chance of a lifetime to Chemeketa students

Just in time for the fall term, travel-hungry students will get the opportunity of a lifetime.
Partnered with six other area schools, Chemeketa’s International program is offering students the chance to study abroad in the historic city of Florence, Italy.
Chemeketa instructor Cerbrina Chou said she hoped that the opportunity would enrich the experiences of students.
“I always encourage my students to explore their own and others’ worldviews. Therefore, teaching … overseas is the best way to help students achieve this goal.”
Chou, who was born in Taiwan, said that study-abroad experiences changed her life.
“Look at where I am now,” she said.
Chou will teach three courses in Florence: Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, and Interpersonal Communication.
All are intended to tie into the diverse historical and cultural experiences that Florence provides.
“My courses will be offered in a small, interactive setting designed to help students fully engage with the Florence location. This will cultivate and enrich every aspect of students’ study-abroad experience,” she said.
Students who are interested in studying abroad are advised to contact Chou at 503-399-2662.
Interested students also can contact Teter Kapan from the International Program at 503-399-5141.
