“It’s called student loan debt. Actually, I have not taken any loans. Chemeketa has opened a lot of opportunities that I did not know existed, in my known universe. I did not think going for a degree in computer programming would have me doing community service and student leadership. I feel like I have learned [grown]just as much outside of the class room as inside.”

“Wow, it has made me play better, work harder to accomplish my goals. It makes me feel “Old”. Generally, I am the oldest person in my classes. It has me much more focused.”
Pat Thomas
- Pat Thomas,first-year hospitality and tourism student.
“It has allowed me to get the education I always wanted. I am taking advantage of the military educational benefits, while they last. This may be my last term with military benefits.”
Jesse James Tyson
- Jesse James Tyson, first-year Business administration and welding student
“So far it has taught me to believe the old saying ‘to believe, to achieve you can become.’ As an individual you can achieve and become. It has made me more punctual.”

“I have grown a lot, Before coming to Chemeketa I was just a bronze ingot. Look at me know I have all these great boos constantly in my hands, ready to be looked at. I am surrounded by people some are friendly, some scare me, generally they leave me alone. Not to long a I had someone jump on my back to have their picture taken. I think I maybe popular, if not famous. The one and only thing I feel I have not achieved is…well this is kind of embarrassing. I don’t have a name.”
