Q: What position do you play?

A: Guard. My job is to lead the team and score.

Q: What made you decide to play basketball here at Chemeketa?

A: My high school coach played here a couple years ago. He just put me on with Coach [Abderhalden.] That’s how I just chose to come here. He told me it would be a good fit for me.

Q: How does studying communication help you on the basketball court?

A: Being able to communicate with my teammates about the defense. The plays you have to run, and in basketball, you have to be able to communicate to win games.

Q: What is the atmosphere like for you during a game?

A: Before a game, I get nervous. I’m anxious to see what’s gonna happen on the court. Then, when I start getting in the flow of things, that’s when I start getting pumped to play.

Q: What motivates you to play?

A: My mom. She’s on me to keep my grades up so I can play basketball. She wants me to do good and succeed. [I] just play for her.

Q: Is there a player that you like to model your game after?

A: Allen Iverson. I watch his highlights. I just take his skills, and I try to mimic what he does.

Q: Is a hotdog a sandwich?

A: I’ll say it is because the bun makes it. That’s a tough question. At Subway, it’s still kind of like a hotdog, [they] just put everything in the middle.
