Salem Area College & Career Fair headed to Chemeketa

It’s not uncommon for students to have questions about the opportunities available to them.
Financial aid, issues regarding enrollment, potential employment: finding the answers can be a challenge.
On Nov. 3, representatives from more than 80 colleges and industries will visit Chemeketa’s Salem campus to help provide students with guidance and answers.
“It’s a chance for students and parents in the community to come learn about college and career opportunities,” Kathy Moore, the CEO of The Inspire Foundation and an organizer of the event, said.
“It’s a great networking opportunity.
“It’s also an exploration opportunity for those who may be looking at university transfers, and a great opportunity to connect with employers in our area.”
Moore said the event will feature representatives from community colleges, universities, trade schools, the military, and employers from across the United States and Canada.
No registration or fees are required to attend; the event is open to students and the general public.
“Anyone and everyone is invited,” Moore said. “Attendance is free, parking is free, and the workshops are free.
“There will be free workshops on financial aid, scholarships, OSAC, and employment basics.
“We also have educational scholarships for high-school seniors, and other prizes for all ages,” she said.
The Salem Area College & Career Fair is presented by the Inspire Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce.
The fair has been an annual event at Chemeketa for more than 25 years.
The Salem Area College & Career Fair will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, in Bldg. 7 of the Salem campus.
